Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan shared on Sunday that running back Tyjae Spears is expected to ‘miss a few weeks’ due to the injury he suffered during Saturday night’s preseason opener.

Spears suffered a high-ankle sprain in Saturday’s 29–7 preseason loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was on the field for six plays during the game, carrying three times for minus-one yard, and catching one pass for a 13-yard gain.

Spears, who is entering his third season in Tennessee, rushed for 453 yards in 17 games as a rookie, with another 385 receiving yards, with three total touchdowns. Last year, gained 312 rushing yards and 224 receiving yards in 12 games, scoring five total touchdowns.

The Titans are hopeful he will be ready for Tennessee’s season opener on Sept. 7 against the Denver Broncos.
